The Los Angeles World Affairs Council & Town Hall (LAWAC) proudly presents its inaugural World Prize Gala, an exclusive evening bringing together over 300 government dignitaries, prominent business leaders, and thought influencers to celebrate individuals whose extraordinary contributions have advanced global understanding, cooperation, and progress. This event embodies LAWAC’s core values of leadership, innovation, and meaningful dialogue in international affairs.

Comedian, Writer, Producer, Actor and Political Commentator

Larry Wilmore is a comedian, writer, producer, actor and political commentator. Larry was the creator of the Bernie Mac Show, and co-created The PJ's with Eddie Murphy and Insecure with Issa Rae. Wilmore is also recognized for his sharp commentary on race and politics, often blending humor with thought-provoking social issues. He was the senior black correspondent on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, hosted his own show The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore and hosted Obama's last White House correspondents dinner. Larry has won numerous awards including an Emmy, Peabody, TV Critics, Humanitas, and several NAACP Image Awards. Currently he hosts his Black on the Air podcast and is an Executive Producer for Hulu's Reasonable Doubt.
